prayer 6.20.15

early morning awaken in balm enfolding forest, radiant waves sparkle on ceiling, reflection cast by sunshine.  we are surrounded by cicada song amid bamboo melody chiming in gentle breeze.  our land dotted by myriad yellow flowers visited by bees, red cardinal balancing on bough of shimmering leaves, thrush singing magnificent song.  banana fronds fluttering welcome for residents of forest, its leaves dancing with Breath Of LIFE.  i feel grateful to Rest At HOME With ABa, Immersed In SaBaT SaLaM, Nourished In Abundant Provision Of LIFE GIVER.

digging out gear tucked away since arriving on the island with no popular climbing, the kids have outgrown their tiny climb shoes and child size harnesses.  our climb will be the house, sustained on belay, thus requirement for shoes is redundant.  it will be an interesting climb, avoiding vulnerable spots, windows, fixtures, satellite, pipes, make for delicate, thoughtful approach.  giving access to all walls, beams to the top, for necessary repairs, painting, cleaning, etc., adding fun, cool factor for endeavors.

our family embraced climbing while living in arcadia, with indoor climb gym down the road from foothills where we reside.  on most days after taking kids to school, i hike up toward chantry flats above cloud line, collecting herbs.  after school we climb in the gym, with longer breaks we venture further to climb outdoors, on beach rocks, mountain fastness, wilderness crags.  the kids were less than half their current size, they climbed in groups with children of varying ages.  we are there to encourage, support, document their progression.  through years of climbing, we absorb the culture, thus a return to climb is easy, facilitated by past memories.

golden rope nest in rope bag tarp, clean, shining, ready to belay.  60m is more than we need for our ascent, thickness surpassing our requirement, main purpose of which is for support, safety, hedge of protection in case of fall from a hold.  otherwise, the walls with holds attached will not be too difficult to navigate.  differential spacing, marked routes can be made for more challenge, requiring jumps craning in awkward angles.  it is a creative process allowing constant revision, adaptation, accommodation.  i feel grateful for this opportunity to finish painting house wrapped in all this fun!  when jacob arrives, he can help us complete this project, also visit with his cats moony and misty.
